Sayre Speedway


Sayre Speedway is a one-quarter mile semi-banked paved oval located in Sayre, Alabama, near Birmingham. Sayre Speedway was built by Robert Hogeland and opened in 1960.

Troy Lee Watts purchased the track from Hogeland in 1972. Watts owned the track until 1974 when he sold it to BJ Parker. Parker also owned the track for two years. Tony Davis and Billy Crownover took over in 1976. Crownover then sold his share to Billy Parker and Ed Young in 1978.

Sayre Speedway operated as a one-quarter mile paved figure eight from 1980 to 1985, then reopened in 2001.The track has also operated as Sayre's Dixie Speedway, Dixie Speedway, and Heart O' Dixie Speedway. The name changed from Heart O' Dixie Speedway to Sayre Speedway for the 2005 season.
